Playbooks & Plays
UltiStackr’s playbook system is the tactical backbone of your team. It gives coaches and captains a powerful visual tool to design, organize, and share plays — so your squad can walk onto the field knowing exactly where to cut, when to huck, and how to break the mark.
What is a Playbook?
A playbook is a collection of plays grouped together for a specific purpose. Think of it like a binder full of your team’s offensive sets, defensive schemes, or sideline plays — except it lives in your pocket and you can animate every movement.
Common playbook examples:
- Offensive Sets — Your go-to handler-cutter flows, endzone plays, and pull plays
- Defensive Schemes — Zone formations, person-match assignments, and trap sets
- Drills & Concepts — Teaching plays used during practice to illustrate fundamentals
- Opponent Scouting — Recreations of an opponent’s tendencies for pre-game review
What is a Play?
A play is a single tactical diagram built inside the interactive Play Designer. Each play can contain:
- Player tokens positioned on the field (offense and defense)
- Multiple steps showing sequential movement over time
- Trails that visualize how players move between steps (straight lines, sharp cuts, or smooth curves)
- Annotations like arrows, text labels, and shapes to highlight zones or intent
- Branching logic so one play can represent multiple options depending on how the defense reacts
Plays are the building blocks of your playbooks. You design them once, then reuse, share, and refine them throughout the season.
Why Use Playbooks?
Teams that run structured playbooks spend less time explaining on the sideline and more time executing on the field.
Here’s what UltiStackr playbooks unlock for your team:
- Visual clarity — A picture is worth a thousand words, especially when you’re trying to explain a four-person handler weave in a 70-second timeout
- Shared understanding — Every player on the roster can access the playbook from their device, study it before practice, and review it on game day
- Animated walkthroughs — Step through plays frame by frame or hit play to watch the full sequence animate in real time
- Branching plays — Model “if-then” scenarios so your cutters know what to do whether the mark is forcing home or away
- Easy iteration — Duplicate a play, tweak the stack, and save a new version without losing the original
How Playbooks Fit Into UltiStackr
Playbooks connect to the rest of UltiStackr in powerful ways:
- Practice Planning — Link plays directly into your practice plan drills so players can preview the concept before running it live
- Game Day — Pull up plays on the sideline during timeouts for quick visual reminders
- Team Management — Share playbooks with specific lines, subgroups, or the whole roster
- Notes & Wiki — Embed play references in your team’s strategy documents
