Reactions
Not every message needs a reply. Sometimes a well-placed thumbs-up says more than a paragraph ever could. UltiStackr’s emoji reactions let you acknowledge messages, show support, and express yourself without adding noise to the conversation.
Adding a Reaction
You can react to any message in a channel or group DM:
On Mobile
- Long-press the message you want to react to.
- A reaction picker will appear with commonly used emojis.
- Tap an emoji to add your reaction, or tap More to browse the full emoji library.
On Web
- Hover over the message you want to react to.
- Click the smiley face icon that appears next to the message.
- Select an emoji from the picker, or search for a specific one by name.
Your reaction appears immediately beneath the message, visible to everyone in the channel.
How Reactions Display
Reactions are grouped by emoji and shown as compact badges beneath the message:
- Each badge shows the emoji and the count of users who reacted with it
- If you’ve reacted with a specific emoji, the badge is highlighted to indicate your participation
- Tap or hover on a reaction badge to see the list of users who used that emoji
Multiple reactions can appear on a single message, so a great play call might earn both a fire emoji and a disc emoji from different teammates.
Removing a Reaction
Changed your mind? Removing a reaction is just as simple as adding one:
- Find the message with your reaction.
- Tap the reaction badge for the emoji you want to remove.
- Your reaction is removed instantly.
If you were the only person who used that emoji, the badge disappears entirely. If others also reacted with the same emoji, the count decreases by one.
Multiple Reactions
You’re not limited to a single emoji per message. Feel free to react with as many different emojis as you want on any given message. Each one adds a separate badge.
There’s no limit to the number of different emojis you can use on a single message. Go ahead and stack up the reactions — it’s the one stack that doesn’t need a handler.
Common Reaction Use Cases
Reactions are surprisingly versatile for team communication. Here are some popular ways teams use them:
| Reaction | Common Meaning |
|---|---|
| Thumbs up | ”Got it” / “Acknowledged” / “Sounds good” |
| Check mark | ”Done” / “Confirmed” / “I’ll be there” |
| Fire | ”Great play” / “Love this idea” |
| Eyes | ”I’ve seen this” / “Watching” |
| Clap | Appreciation / Celebration |
| Question mark | ”Can you clarify?” / “I have a question” |
| Heart | General support / Team love |
Quick Acknowledgments
Reactions are perfect for low-friction acknowledgments. When your coach posts a practice time in the Announcements channel, a quick thumbs-up from every player confirms they’ve seen it — no need for 15 separate “sounds good” messages clogging the feed.
Informal Polls
Not everything needs a formal poll. If someone asks “tacos or pizza after the game?”, a taco emoji and a pizza emoji reaction on the message can settle it in seconds.
Celebrating Wins
Big tournament win? Season-best performance? A flurry of fire and clap reactions on the recap message is the digital equivalent of a team dogpile in the endzone.
Reactions are a great way to keep conversations tidy. Instead of 12 people replying “nice!”, a single message with 12 fire reactions tells the same story without the scroll.
Tips for Using Reactions
- React instead of replying when a simple acknowledgment is all that’s needed. It keeps channels readable.
- Use reactions on Announcements to signal that you’ve read and understood important updates.
- Establish team conventions — some teams use specific emojis to mean specific things (e.g., a check mark means “I’m attending”). Pick a few and make them part of your team culture.
- Don’t overdo it — Reactions are most effective when they’re meaningful. A message with 30 different emojis might be fun, but it can also make it hard to parse what people actually think.
